Actor Rajkumar Rao said on Wednesday that he focuses on originality during work and tries to avoid being inspired by an old film to play any character. Rao came to Indore to promote his new film ‘Malik’, which is going to be released in theaters on July 11.
In this film, he will be seen in a beating role. Asked if he has been inspired by an old film to play a killing role, he told reporters, “To say honestly, when the shooting of a film goes on, I really try not to watch any special kind of old film at that time (for inspiration).”
Rao (40) said, “I want every character that I play seem is absolutely original and this character emerged from the story of my imagination and film.” He said that if he would be in his subconscious mind that he should try to repeat a good scene of an old film, his acting originality will end.
For his experimentation, Rao said, “I do not want to keep myself tied in one character as an actor.” I want me to play at least one character every year who shocked you and you start thinking that you did not expect such a performance from me.
