Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that due to the tireless and sincere efforts of the Aam Aadmi government, there has been massive revenue generation, which has transformed Punjab from a ‘fiscal deficit’ to a ‘fiscal profit’ state.

Talking to reporters at Punjab Bhavan here today, the Chief Minister said that previous governments always thought to fulfill their personal interests while his government has closed all loopholes to increase the revenue of the state. He said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that these efforts have yielded tangible results as the state has been able to generate more revenue. Bhagwant Mann said that the honest government of the state has diverted the funds to the government treasury instead of going to the private houses of the politicians.
The Chief Minister said that although the state government had implemented the excise policy with a delay of three months, but with this the state has received a revenue of Rs 8841 crore. He said that this revenue is Rs 2587 crore more than the previous year, which is about 41.41 percent more. Bhagwant Mann said that a target of Rs 9754 crore has been set for the next financial year and due to his continuous efforts this target will also be met.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has presented a budget with zero tax for the first time in the state. He said that this is a first of its kind pro-people initiative, which will ensure the welfare of the people. Bhagwant Mann vowed that no stone will be left unturned for the all-round development of the state and the well-being of the people here.
Discussing another important achievement, the Chief Minister said that GST in the state. The Chief Minister said that the state government, taking an unprecedented initiative, made a new experiment of giving 2.25 percent discount on stamp duty for registration of land and property. He said that this has created a new record in revenue collection in the month of March. Giving an example of this, the Chief Minister said that in the month of February, a revenue of Rs 339 crore was generated, while in the month of March, this revenue increased to Rs 658.68 crore. Bhagwant Mann said that on the suggestion of the people of Punjab, especially those related to agriculture, this exemption has now been extended till April 30.
The Chief Minister said that earlier due to the wrong policies of the state governments, PSPCL was considered a loss-making enterprise. The Chief Minister said that his government has taken unprecedented initiatives to strengthen this public sector institution. Bhagwant Mann said that for the first time in the history of the state, the government has released the outstanding subsidy of Rs 20,200 crore. The Chief Minister said that out of this subsidy Rs 9063.79 crore has been given to the agriculture sector, Rs 8285.90 crore as subsidy for domestic consumers and Rs 2911 crore to the industrial sector. He said that the state government was given PLPCL from the previous governments. 9020 crore was inherited and the state government is also repaying this debt through five installments of Rs 1894 crore. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government has so far given jobs to 3538 youth in Powercom.
The Chief Minister said that due to the tireless efforts of his government, the power generation in the state has increased manifold. He said that uninterrupted supply of coal has started from Jharkhand coal mine. Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab is moving towards becoming a state with surplus electricity in the country.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is exploring possibilities of going to court to collect the balance of Rural Development Fund from the Centre. He said that the central government RDF. By withholding funds of Rs 30,000 crore under Bhagwant Mann said that although the state government has completed all the formalities to get the funds, still the central government has deliberately withheld the legitimate funds of the state, which is a complete injustice to the state.

Enumerating the pro-people initiatives taken by the state government, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has so far given government jobs to more than 28,000 youth of the state. He said that the only selection criterion in this entire recruitment process is pure merit and the entire process is being ensured in a transparent manner. He said that now these youth have become an integral part of the socio-economic development of the state. Bhagwant Mann said that such a large number of jobs in just one year shows the commitment of the state government to ensure the welfare of the youth and open new avenues of employment for them.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has dedicated 504 Aam Aadmi clinics across the state to the people to provide quality health services in the state and 134 more such clinics will be started soon. He said that world-class treatment and examination facilities are being provided free of cost to the people in these clinics. Bhagwant Mann said that so far 21.21 lakh patients have benefited from these Aam Aadmi clinics and lakhs of patients have been tested free of cost in just a few months.
The Chief Minister said that giving a big relief to the farmers of the state, the state government has announced a 25 percent increase in the compensation to the farmers for crop damage. He said that if the damage is less than 75 percent then Rs 6800 per acre will be given as compensation compared to Rs 5400 earlier and if the damage is more than 75 percent then the state government will give the farmers Rs 15000 per acre compared to Rs 12000 per acre earlier. Acre will compensate. Bhagwant Mann said that their purpose is to ensure the welfare of farmers at any cost. Special Girdavari is being conducted in the state and compensation will be distributed till Baisakhi.
The Chief Minister said that currently around 50 public sand quarries are running in the state, which are benefiting the people. He said that this number will be increased as the state government will soon open 150 new sand quarries across the state. Bhagwant Mann said that sand is being supplied at Rs 5.50 per cubic foot in these public sand quarries.
