91 lakh cash recovered by police

The Amritsar police have taken major action in the drugs and weapons case. Police arrested Gurpal Singh of Goindwal Sahib. 91 lakh rupees, US $ 5000 and 34 dirhams have been recovered from the accused.

This action was taken under the ‘War on Drugs’ by Punjab Chief Minister. Earlier on April 9, the police arrested Ranjit Singh Rana with 500 grams of heroin and a Golk 9mm pistol.

After interrogation, the police also arrested Gurdev Singh dock and Shailender Singh Seelu. He received money for hawala of Rs 33 lakh from them. The investigation revealed the financial chain of drug syndicate after which action was taken and Gurpal Singh was caught on his spot.

During the arrest of Gurpal Singh, the police have also seized a note counting machine and the Honda City car. Police say the case is of drug trafficking and money refinement.

According to Amritsar Rural Police, action will continue to root out organized crime. Investigations are underway to identify the other accused and detect the financial network.
