Drone attacks between Russia and Ukraine interrupted air travel

Russia and Ukraine attacked each other with hundreds of drones on Sunday, causing disruption in Russian air traffic. The attack took place a few days after Moscow carried out the biggest air attack in a war over three years old.

According to Russia’s Transport Ministry, photographs broadcast on social media may see crowds at other Russian airports including Moscow and St. Petersburg, as hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled due to Ukrainian drone attacks on Saturday and night.

Flights were interrupted at Shermetayevo in Moscow and main Pulkovo Airports in St. Petersburg. Flights were also disrupted at other airports in western and central Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense said the Russian air defense system destroyed 120 Ukrainian drones during the night attacks, and killed 39 more drones before 2 pm on Sunday.

Officials said three citizens in Kiev and at least two citizens in Kharkeev, the second largest city in Ukraine, were injured in a large-scale Russian drone attacks on Sunday.

According to local governor Vitali Kim, a large Russian attack from Shahd drone was also targeted by the port infrastructure at Micolive, Central Ukraine. He said that the power grids of the warehouses and the port have been damaged, but there were no casualties.
