The Khagra crematorium in Bahrampur, West Bengal, Durga Puja Committee has attracted wide attention with a unique theme of its Durga Puja celebrations. This year the committee has unveiled a demon statue on the lines of US President Donald Trump. The committee said that Trump -shaped demon is a symbol of alleged betrayal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite efforts to maintain friendly relations. This idol is made by artist Aseem Pal. This illustration reflects complaints on trade policies, including tariffs imposed on India, which the committee considers harmful to the interests of the country.

The statue was unveiled in the presence of Naru Gopal Mukherjee, Mayor of Baharampur Municipality and a large number of spectators gathered soon after. Trump’s demon soon became the center of discussion, showing how global political developments resonate in local cultural practices. Significantly, this is not the first example of incorporating Trump’s image in Indian cultural contexts. In 2018, a farmer from Telangana built a temple dedicated to Trump in the hope of promoting goodwill among nations.
