US President Donald Trump on Monday said he believes India and Pakistan will “get along very well”. He pointed to Shehbaz Sharif standing behind the Pakistani Prime Minister at the Gaza peace summit in Egypt. The guest leader laughed at this comment.Trump told reporters as he smiled for the cameras in Sharm el-Sheikh.“India is a great country which I have a very good friend at the helm of. And he has done a very good job. I think Pakistan and India will get along very well.

Addressing a summit of world leaders in the Egyptian city following a ceasefire agreement ending the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, Trump told the forum that he thought “India and Pakistan will get along very well”.
Trump replied laughingly while looking towards Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif standing behind him.“India is a great country which I have a very good friend at the helm of and he has done a very good job. I think Pakistan and India will live very well together.Earlier, while praising Sharif and his “favourite Field Marshal” Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir, Trump also invited the Pakistani Prime Minister to address the gathering.Sharif said peace had been established in the Middle East after President Trump’s “tireless and tireless efforts”.

“Pakistan nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding (and) extraordinary contribution in first preventing the war between India and Pakistan and then achieving the ceasefire with his amazing team,” he said.Sharif said he would like to nominate Trump again for the Nobel Peace Prize for “saving millions of lives not only in South Asia but also in the Middle East.”
After missing out on the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump has claimed to have resolved eight wars, including the one between India and Pakistan. He said that he did not do it for the Nobel Prize.Trump has so far claimed to have resolved seven conflicts, including the war between India and Pakistan. However, now he has increased the number to eight by adding the Israel-Gaza conflict.
On May 10, Trump announced that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “complete and immediate” ceasefire following US-brokered talks. India says that an agreement was reached to end hostilities through direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two armies.

India at Gaza peace summit

India was represented at the Gaza peace summit by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, who is the first Indian minister to officially meet Trump since Operation Vermillion. Singh joined as a special envoy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a post on Twitter, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “India welcomes the signing of this historic peace agreement and hopes that it will lead to lasting peace in the region.”

Prime Minister Modi praised Trump

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised Trump’s “unwavering peace efforts” in brokering the Gaza ceasefire agreement. In a post on
Prime Minister Modi said, “We welcome the release of all the hostages after being held captive for more than two years. Their freedom is a tribute to the courage of their families, President Trump’s unwavering peace efforts and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s determination. We support President Trump’s sincere efforts to bring peace to the region.”
The summit concluded with Trump signing a historic ceasefire document with leaders of the Arab and Muslim world. The summit, attended by leaders from the Arab and Muslim world, was described by Trump as a “new and beautiful day” for the Middle East after two years of devastating conflict between Israel and Hamas.
