A day after the announcement of “historic energy partnership” with Pakistan, US President Donald Trump on Friday imposed 19% tariff on Pakistani goods. The move has been taken as part of the expansion plan of Trump’s comprehensive “liberation day” tariff, which was announced on Thursday through an executive order. These new tariffs applied to dozens of countries are going to be implemented in seven days, on August 7 from 12:01 pm.
Oil reserves agreement between US-Pakistan

A day after the announcement of 25% import duty and fines on Indian products, Trump announced it further by announcing that the US had signed an agreement, under which Islamabad and Washington will work together to develop the “huge oil reserves” of Pakistan. He shared this news on his platform, Truth Social and described the agreement as “an important start” of the long-term energy partnership between the US-Pakistan. It is not yet clear which huge oil reserves Trump was talking about in Pakistan. Although detailed information is not yet available, Trump said that the two countries would cooperate to exploit unknown oil reserves and they also thought that Pakistan would eventually export oil to India.
Donald Trump imposed 19% tariff on Pakistan
A day after the announcement of “historic energy partnership” with Pakistan, US President Donald Trump on Friday imposed 19% tariff on Pakistani products. The move is part of the plan to expand the “liberation day” tariffs declared by Trump on Thursday through an executive order. Although a heavy duty of 29% was imposed on Pakistan earlier, the final list released on Thursday suggests that the tariff rate of the South Asian country has come down to 19% after the last -minute trade agreement with Washington.

US President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order imposing high tariffs on dozens of trading partners before the deadline of the trade agreement to be held on Friday – this is his latest attempt to a new look to global trade in favor of American businesses. According to the order, the increased rates of import duty for 69 trading partners will increase from 10 percent to 41 percent. It was along with the fees of various levels in accordance with the trade agreements between Washington and the European Union and Japan. The order states that 10 percent of the US fee rate will apply to the goods of all other countries not listed in the contract.
And trade agreements remain to be announced
Trump’s order states that some business partners, “Despite joining the conversation, have presented the conditions that, in my view, do not adequately remove the imbalance in our business relations or are not adequately aligned with the United States in economic and national security matters.” The Trump administration officials told reporters that Trump’s high “mutual” tariff rates are going to be implemented, so more trade agreements are yet to be announced. “We have some agreements. And I do not want to move beyond the US President in announcing those agreements,” the official said.
Heavy tariffs on dozens of business partners
Syria was charged 41 percent, 35 percent on many goods coming from Canada, 50 percent on Brazil, 25 percent on India, 20 percent on Taiwan and 39 percent on Switzerland. Meanwhile, the duty on goods imported from Pakistan has been reduced from 29 percent to 19 percent.
