US President Donald Trump on Saturday expressed hope that somehow the Russia-Ukraine war will stop. Along with this, he also made it clear that his peace plan to end the Ukraine war is not his ‘last offer’.
When reporters asked Trump if his 28-point proposal, which would require Ukraine to give up its territory, reduce its troops and promise never to join NATO, was his last offer to Ukraine, Trump replied simply, ‘No.’
“We are trying to end this,” he stressed. One way or the other, we have to end this.
What did Zelensky and Putin say on this?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has given a cool reaction to this plan and said that he will soon propose ‘another option’. At the same time, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that he is ready to discuss the details of the plan, but if Kiev refuses, Moscow will continue its attack on Ukraine started in February 2022.
Trump’s deadline and warning
On Friday, Trump said Nov. 27, the day the US celebrates Thanksgiving, was the “right time” for Zelensky to agree to a deal, but he later hinted that the deadline could be flexible.
“They should like it (the deal), and if they don’t like it, you know, they should just keep fighting,” Trump told reporters. He further said, ‘At some point they will have to admit something.’

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff are due to arrive in Geneva on Sunday to discuss the plan, a US official told AFP. European officials are also expected to participate in the discussion in Switzerland.
