PGI Chandigarh has taken a big step to Jammu and Kashmir, taking a major step amidst emergency situation in the country after India-Pakistan tension. The team consists of doctors, nursing officers and transport support staff. This team is injured in emergency

PGI director Vivek Lal said that the team sent is ready to deal with every challenge. The priority is to save the lives of patients and handle the emergency effectively. He said that all emergency facilities have also been kept on high alert inside the hospital. Special preparations have been made at the Advanced Trauma Center.
Dr. Amit Sharma from the Department of Anesthesia and Dr. Sachin, General, Dr. Swapnesh Sahu from Veskular Surgery and Dr. Gokul Krishnan, Dr. Himanshu Kanwar from Orthopedics and Dr. Udit. Jayant, Dr. Mahesh and Dr. Sachin C. Nair have been sent from plastic surgery. Narinder Tyagi and Ramesh Kumar, while Shivnath, Pradeep Kumar and Lakhveer Singh have been included in the team for transport support in the nursing staff.
Postponed 11th Convocation
The Government Medical College and Hospital Sector-32 (GMCH) has postponed the 11th Convocation to be held today. Earlier, Union Health Minister JP Nadda was expected to join it, later Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel was made the chief guest. But the program has been postponed in view of the current situation. The new date will be announced after the situation is normal.
Advanced Trauma Center fully prepared.
PGI Advanced Trauma Center on Alert Mode
Dr. Vivek Lal himself inspected the Advanced Trauma Center and reviewed the preparations. The disaster ward has been activated in the hospital. Patients are being shifted to other wards. All departments have been alerted and ensured stock of ICU, ventilator, beds and essential medicines. A 48-year-old woman injured in an air strike on the Indo-Pak border has been brought to PGI from Poonch. The woman was sitting in the car, when the bomb shell hit her eye. He was referred to PGI in critical condition from the local hospital. According to the spokesperson, the woman’s condition is critical and the surgery lasted till 3.30 pm.
Holidays canceled, officials instructions to stay in touch at all times
In view of the current emergency, PGI and GMCH have canceled the employees’ holidays till further orders. The order issued by the Medical Superintendent states that the holiday will be allowed only under essential circumstances, that too with appropriate documents. The station leave has also been canceled. All the officers have been instructed to keep in touch even after work time and report immediate hospitals in the emergency. Strict action has been warned for violating the order.

Dedual room built in Chandigarh
- A control room has been built at the General Hospital of Sector-16. A nodal officer has been deployed here and the staff is on duty in shift.
- Emergency departments of GMCH-16 and other civil hospitals have been strengthened by giving adequate staff, medicines and equipment.
- The holidays of all the employees of the Health Department have been canceled and a roster has been prepared for duty.
- Ambulances have been prepared with essential equipment, medicines and staff, so that it can be served immediately anywhere.
- All medicines and equipment required to deal with disaster have been procured. Their list has also been made.
- The communication network in hospitals has been improved so that information can be exchanged under any circumstances.
- The procedures for disaster management have been reviewed and the staff have been told how to work especially in a blackout -like situation.
- Now only necessary surgery is being done in hospitals. The rest has been stopped so that emergency can be noted.
- Blood banks have set up special blood donation camps to increase their stocks.
- A network has been prepared in collaboration with PGI, GMCH-32 and private hospitals. All have been alerted by meeting with IMA and private doctors.
