Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh defended the decision to release the film ‘Sardar G3’ abroad amid controversy over the role of Pakistani artist Hania Aamir.
The controversy began recently after Dosanjh shared the trailer of ‘Sardar Ji 3’, which will be released abroad on 27 June. Many people on social media have demanded a ban on Punjabi actor-musicians, while organizations like All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have criticized Aamir for working in view of Pahalgam terror attack.
Dosanjh said in an interview with the BBC Asian Network that when he signed the film, there was no problem between India and Pakistan. He said that the producers of the film are already facing losses, as the film will not be released in India due to the ban on Pakistani actors and it is appropriate to release it abroad.
He said, “When this film was being made, the situation was fine … We had shot it in February and everything was going well at that time. See, there are many things that are not under our control. Apparently, the film will not be released in India now, so the producers decided to be released abroad. ”Dosanjh said that the producers had invested a lot of money in the film and they had no hope of increasing tension between the two countries.
