Kohli got the loudest cheers when he reached Dhoni’s house, and with good reason. The two have shared one of the most memorable partnerships in Indian cricket—from Kohli’s stellar performances under Dhoni’s able leadership to Dhoni’s trust in him at crucial moments across formats. Their friendship was once again on full display in Ranchi, where pictures of the former captain greeting and welcoming Kohli quickly went viral.
However, what made the fans most happy was that Dhoni himself took Kohli in his car after the ceremony. The clip – which featured Dhoni driving and Kohli sitting next to him, greeting enthusiastic fans on the streets – took over social media within minutes, bringing back memories of an era defined by their joint performances on the field. Many fans called it “the most memorable moment of the year”, celebrating the unbreakable relationship between two of India’s most influential cricketers.

Pant and Gaikwad also visited the former Indian captain, continuing the tradition of players coming to watch the national team matches in Dhoni’s hometown. Pant, who has long considered Dhoni as his mentor, arrived with his teammates, while Gaikwad, who is a key part of Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings team, was naturally familiar with his IPL skipper.
