Punjab Assembly Speaker Kulatar Singh Sandhawan inaugurated development projects worth Rs 58.52 lakh in four government schools in Kotkapura. This work was done under the Punjab Shiksha Kranti Abhiyan.

Speaker Sandhawan said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is making government schools equivalent to high -level convent schools. Schools are being equipped with smart classes, advanced computer and science laboratories and modern sports grounds.
Development works include ROs, bathrooms, flood prevention, construction and repair, roof repair and rain harvesting at a cost of Rs 18.52 lakh in Government Primary School Surgapuri. 27.86 lakh rupees were allocated to the Government High School Surgapuri, which will develop rooms, construction of lab, educational tour and sports ground.
In the time of previous governments, only foundation stones were installed- speaker Development works of Rs 2.26 lakh in Gandhi Basti School and Rs 9.88 lakh in Indira Colony School have been done. Targeting the opposition, the speaker said that his government inaugurates only after the development work is completed, while only foundations remained stones in the time of previous governments, which are now useful to itching of animals.
The speaker assured that the government would provide adequate funds for the development of schools and renewal of infrastructure. He said that now the children of Punjab are getting free modern education facilities in government schools.
