Malhotra was arrested from the New Agrasen Extension and a case was registered under the provisions of the official secrecy Act and the Code of India. Police have claimed that Pakistani intelligence agencies were developing Malhotra as their property.

A Haryana court on Wednesday refused to grant bail to social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested last month on suspicion of espionage. Malhotra was arrested by the Hisar police on 16 May on suspicion of espionage and later sent him to five days police custody by the court. After the remand was completed, the court extended the detention period four days after the police interrogated him further. On 26 May, the court sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

Why was Jyoti Malhotra arrested?

Malhotra was arrested from the New Agrasen Extension and a case was registered under the provisions of the official secrecy Act and the Code of India. Police have claimed that Pakistani intelligence agencies were developing Malhotra as their property. Police sources had earlier said that she was in touch with Pakistani High Commission employees Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish since November 2023. India expelled Danish on 13 May due to alleged indulging in espionage.

Who is Jyoti Malhotra?

Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, ran a YouTube channel “Travel with Joe”. The 33 -year -old influential person has 377K subscribers on YouTube and 132K followers on Instagram. Malhotra has gone to Pakistan three times and has posted videos of these trips on his YouTube channel and Instagram page. After his arrest, videos related to his visit to Lahore have gone viral. It is reportedly showed that he was provided tight security during his visit to the neighboring country.
