In Fazilka, Punjab, many families are unable to get the free wheat that is given to poor families. Prem Singh, a resident of Nawan Salemshah village, told that he pulls a rickshaw to support his family. There are 5 members in his family, 2 girls and 1 boy. He has Atta Dal Card of Punjab Government. For the last several years, he was living by taking free wheat from the government.

This time also free wheat came for the poor families in his village. When he cut the wheat slip, the concerned depot holder cut the 75 kg wheat slip of 5 family members. After this, when he went to the depot holder to take wheat, the depot holder told him to give 65 kg of wheat. Due to which he asked to give complete wheat as told by him, but he was not given wheat. He told that he is running the household with great difficulty.

3 kg deduction per member
Similarly, Jeet Singh, a resident of village Nawan Salemshah, told that he is also getting wheat with a shortage of 3 kg per member. Due to which it is difficult for him to walk home. He also said that they earn their living by working hard. Work is not available in MNREGA and wages are also not available. Apart from the ADC, he has also appealed to many officials, but he is not being heard. He has demanded complete distribution of wheat and work under MNREGA.

Fazilka DFSC informed that wheat is being received from the government at 11 per cent reduction. Due to which wheat is being supplied on first come first serve basis. He said that if you give us a written complaint, we will conduct an inquiry.
