The performance of teachers and non -teaching staff who lost jobs in West Bengal Teacher Recruitment Scam continues for the second consecutive day. On Friday morning, the teachers broke barricading outside the ‘Vikas Bhawan’, the headquarters of the education department and started a dharna shouting slogans.
There was a clash between teachers and police on Thursday night. Police lathi -charged, in which around 100 teachers were injured. DCP Anish Sarkar of Bidhannagar said- Despite explaining several times, the protesters did not allow the employees of the education department to leave.
Teacher Chinmay Mandal, who is leading the protest, said- We have appealed to teachers and common people to gather outside Vikas Bhavan at 3 pm on Friday. We want Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to talk to us herself.
A member of the Dizrying Teachers Rights Forum said- Our demand is that we should be restored again and the condition of taking the exam should not be kept again. Because we have already passed the 2016 School Service Commission Examination.
On April 3, the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Kolkata High Court associated with the scam. The High Court had canceled the recruitment of 25,753 teachers, calling the 2016 teacher and staff recruitment as illegal.

The Supreme Court had extended the job of dismissed teachers found untreated after the CBI investigation on 17 April till 31 December. Mamta Banerjee said that the state government will file a review petition in the Supreme Court and appealed to the teachers to maintain trust.
Mamta said- I have spoken about this many times since last night. A review petition will also be filed in the Supreme Court for Group C and Group D employees who have lost jobs.
The Supreme Court said- teachers will be able to teach till the new process is completed On April 17, the Supreme Court has given relief to about 26,000 dismissed teachers. The court said- teachers whose appointment has been canceled can continue teaching till the new selection process is completed. However, his name has not come in the 2016 scam case. The court said- We do not want the education of children to be interrupted by the court’s decision.
Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna said- Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) will have to issue a notification of the recruitment process by May 31. The selection process should be completed by 31 December. The Government of Bengal and SSC will have to issue advertisement for recruitment by 31 May and hand over the entire schedule to the court. If the process is not completed within the stipulated time, the court will take appropriate action and fine.
