Delhi Police lodged an FIR against Kejriwal: Rouse Avenue Court ordered; Accused of misuse of government money

On March 11, the Rouse Avenue Court ordered Arvind Kejriwal to register an FIR in the misuse of government money. The court had also sought the status report of the case from March 18 from the police.

Delhi Police has registered an FIR against former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. This FIR has been registered under the Public Property Act in the misuse of government money.

Kejriwal is accused of misusing public money to get big hoardings for campaigning. The court has reported 18 April for the next hearing of the case.

On Friday, Delhi Police on Friday informed Kejriwal and two other leaders Gulab Singh and Nitika Sharma during the hearing on the petition demanding an FIR.

Earlier, on March 11, the Rouse Avenue Court ordered Arvind Kejriwal to register an FIR in the misuse of government money. The court had also sought the status report of the case from March 18 from the police.

Petition filed in court 6 years ago In 2019, a petition was filed in a Delhi court. It was alleged that Arvind Kejriwal, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gulab Singh and Councilor Nitika Sharma from Dwarka Nitika Sharma have misused public money by putting big hoardings in the entire area. The lower court then dismissed the petition and refused to allow the FIR.

In January 2024, the Directorate of Information and Publicity also asked the AAP to return Rs 163.62 crore including interest to misuse public money for political advertisements.

BJP’s charge- Expendicted on publicity than the budget of the scheme

  • The BJP had alleged in January 2025 that the AAP had spent more than the budget of some schemes on its publicity. The BJP claimed that Rs 54 crore was released for the Business Blasters Yojana, while Rs 80 crore was spent in its campaign.
  • At the same time, a budget of Rs 1.9 crore was kept for the Mentor scheme, while the publicity of the scheme was spent Rs 27.9 crore. There was a budget of Rs 77 lakh for the stubble management scheme, while the publicity was spent 28 crore rupees.

Kejriwal is on bail in liquor scam case Arvind Kejriwal is out on bail in the liquor scam case. He came out of jail on July 13, 2024. On the same day, the Supreme Court granted him bail in the CBI case related to the same case.

Both ED and CBI investigative agencies have registered a case against Kejriwal in the liquor scam case. ED arrested him on 21 March 2024.

After this, on 26 June, the CBI took him into custody from jail itself. He was granted bail from the Supreme Court on 12 July in the ED case.

Center order- Renovation will be investigated in Kejriwal’s bungalow

Earlier, the central government had ordered an inquiry into a renovation in the bungalow at 6 Flag Staff Road of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) issued an inquiry order on 13 February. This order was given after the report of the Central Public Workers Department (CPWD) came out.

The report said that several rules were broken in the construction of a bungalow built on 40 thousand square yards (8 acres). Before the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP had alleged that more than Rs 45 crore has been spent in the renovation of the bungalow. The BJP has named the bungalow of Kejriwal’s Sheeshamahal. Kejriwal lived here from 2015 to 2024.
