A family of nine Bangladeshi citizens working on brick kilns in Mewat, Haryana has been arrested by the Delhi Police, who was absconding for fear of arrest after illegally entered India. The officers provided this information.
On receiving information about illegal Bangladeshis, a police team launched a monitoring and verification campaign in Wazirpur JJ Colony on 23 May, resulting in detained one such person.
An official said that during his interrogation, the police got help in capturing eight other Bangladeshi citizens including a newborn from the same family, who were living in India without valid documents. He was arrested from the North-West Delhi city area. He said that a smartphone has been seized from him, which had a restricted video call and chatting app.
He said that the family used to use it to talk to his relatives in Bangladesh. During interrogation, the family said that they had illegally entered the country through the Indo-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.
Police said that they initially claimed Indian citizenship, but they came out of Kurigram district of Bangladesh. A 45 -day -old baby is also among the arrested Bangladeshis. All were handed over to the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for exile action. Police said that investigation is going on to find out such infiltration facilities and locally assisting.
