The monsoon that has reached Delhi on June 29 is about eight percent more than the normal rainfall. Residents of Delhi-NCR rained again on Wednesday morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in the national capital throughout the week. IMD has issued a red alert of heavy rains in north-east and southeast Delhi.
 

Delhi-NCR has been pleasant due to heavy rains since morning

This latest rains, after hours of torrential rains on Tuesday, flooded many parts of the national capital. The area near Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport was also affected by heavy rains. However, no obstacles are reported in the operation of flights. Traffic jams were reported in many areas including South Delhi, ITO and Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road.

The latest advice from India Meteorological Department (IMD) states that heavy rains, light thunderstorms and winds are likely to blow at a speed of 30-40 km/h across Delhi and NCR. Light to moderate rains are expected in Haryana, Rajasthan and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The Meteorological Department said that due to continuous rains, water can be filled with water, waterlogging in low -lying areas and underpasses can be closed. The department has also warned of minor damage to raw houses and huts. Water flow from Hathinikund barrage in Haryana has crossed the 50,000 cusec level for the first time in this monsoon, which has increased Delhi’s concerns. This may increase the water level of Yamuna in the national capital. Prior to today’s torrential rains, 136.3 mm of rain was recorded in Delhi. The city usually receives 209.7 mm of rain in July.

Traffic disrupted due to rain and Kandar Yatra in Delhi

Traffic came to a standstill on Tuesday due to heavy rains in the national capital and congestion, causing several passengers to be stranded for hours. Many major roads were submerged due to heavy rains in the morning. At the same time, many main routes were blocked due to walking pilgrims. In many places, the recently laid asphalt layer on the roads was uprooted due to rain, causing the pits to emerge and slow down traffic. ITO, Old Rohtak Road, Delhi-Jaipur National Highway (NH-eight), Mehrauli-Bedarpur Road, Mehrauli-Guraugram Road, Piragadhi to ISBT, Madhuban Chowk, Delhi-Ghaziabad and National Highway-9 were heavy jams for several hours. Traffic on several roads of South Delhi, including the roads leading to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Safdarjung Hospital and Ashram area, was interrupted in the afternoon and evening time.

Passengers stuck for hours

The Mehrauli-Badarpur road was the most affected, where traffic was disrupted till noon. A large number of kanwadis were seen walking on the side of the already submerged roads. Many Kanwar camps were held from Nangloi towards Najafgarh and near Anand Vihar, which stalled the traffic completely.
The route of vehicles was changed in many parts of the city to make way for pilgrims, but the drivers remained in a dilemma due to lack of real -time information and lack of traffic police at real time. A passenger said, “I left for Gurugram from Delhi at eight in the morning, stuck in a jam near the airport for hours. There was a huge jam. He was able to cover a distance of only 18 kilometers in two hours. “Another user on the social media platform ‘X’ said,” It took me two hours to cover a distance of 30 kilometers on the Gurugram-Delhi route.
