In March, President Draupadi Murmu had approved the ACB to formally investigate against Sisodia and Jain for alleged irregularities in the construction of school rooms and buildings.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday raided about 37 places of private contractors in the National Capital Region (NCR) including Delhi in case of alleged class construction irregularities, in which former ministers and senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain are under investigation. People familiar with the developments gave this information. The ED investigation has started from the FIR (FIR) lodged by the Anti -Corruption Branch of the Delhi government (ACB).
In March, President Draupadi Murmu had approved the ACB to formally investigate against Sisodia and Jain for alleged irregularities in the construction of school rooms and buildings. The ACB had registered a criminal case against Sisodia (who was the Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister in the previous AAP government) and former PWD Minister Jain in the case on 30 April. This approval was sought under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, under which it is mandatory to get prior permission for investigation against government officials. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informed the ACB on March 11 of the President’s decision.
When there were alleged irregularities, Sisodia was the Education Minister, while Jain was a PWD minister in the Delhi government. In July 2018, the Center has been imposed under Section 17A under the Prevention of Corruption Act through an amendment, under which it is mandatory for the police, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or any investigating agency dealing with corruption crimes against government officials to take prior permission before any “investigation” or “investigation” or “investigation” in any crime related to corruption against government officials.
