Death of prisoner under consideration due to strangulation in Saket court lockout

A person brought for hearing in Saket court on Thursday strangled two other prisoners in the court lockout, killing him. Police gave this information.

Police said Aman (24), who was facing trial in a case of attempt to murder, was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said in a statement that Aman was attacked by Jitendra alias Jitte and Jaydev alias Bacha in the presence of several under consideration in lockup.

He said, “Aman was brought to the Saket court for appearance and the incident occurred in Kharja No. 5 of Hawalat.” Initial investigation suggests that the attack was carried out due to the previous dispute. Aman allegedly attacked Jitendra and his brother with a knife in 2024.

“It seems that the quarrel continued, which increased further during custody.” He said that Aman, a resident of Govindpuri, suffered serious injuries in the attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead during treatment.
