Deadly air of Delhi-NCR: Kiran Bedi told PMO – do something now, situation is sad

Amid the worsening air pollution situation in Delhi-NCR, former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi tagged the Prime Minister’s Office and sought ‘proactive’ intervention in resolving the crisis affecting the region. Talking about Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, Delhi-NCR, she wrote on ‘X’ on Thursday morning that I live in Indirapuram and currently the AQI is 587. Despite messages from teachers, I have not sent my child to school. I have written a strict letter to the principal. I will do whatever is within my control. And said, “Sir, please intervene actively.” Tagging the Prime Minister’s Office, he said that the situation is painful and disappointing.

On Wednesday, Bedi told how the deteriorating environment has forced her, who is used to taking walks in the evening, to stay indoors. Speaking to India Today, she said, “Can I live as a prisoner in my own house with an air purifier?” His comments came in a discussion that also touched on political arguments related to the long-running pollution emergency. As the opposition’s stand was revealed – “Now that the Prime Minister is yours, the Chief Minister is yours, the Mayor is yours, the Lieutenant Governor is yours – it was explained to Bedi that the BJP should be able to move beyond “raising issues” to finding solutions.

Earlier, when former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was in power, the debate focused on questions related to Delhi’s own governance and the responsibility of surrounding states, it was emphasized. Citing years of disorganized management, Bedi responded: “Delhi was really out of control in many ways, in many ways.” He further said that this moment provides an opportunity for coordination as there is “no reason” why there cannot be cooperation between the capital and neighboring regions. According to him, more than 24 surrounding districts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab are part of this problem, and he said, “This requires strong political and political decisions.”

The change in his stance — from first asking why everything should reach the Prime Minister’s desk, to now requesting intervention — was evident from his own experience. “It’s becoming a frustrating situation now… I feel like I’m drowning,” she said. She told that she realized its seriousness only after becoming a resident of Delhi a few years ago, while in 2017 she was living in Pondicherry. She said, “I have never felt such a sting in Pondicherry… An outsider cannot feel this sting as much as I am feeling it now.”
