All Indian films have been banned in Pakistan since 2019.
After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, India has taken a tough stand on Pakistan. Pakistani actor Fawad Khan was about to make Bollywood comeback, but now all Pakistani artists have been completely banned in India. This big decision came after the terrorist attack, but even before that our neighboring country has prevented India’s films from being released in our country due to strange reasons. These films include 36 films like Ranjhana, Phantom, Jolly LLB 2, Padman and Race 3.
There are also many banned films in which the Pakistani Censor Board objected to the Pakistanis shown losing. At the same time, some Hindu-Muslim love story, pads like pads, were sometimes banned for showing the national anthem or tricolor.
The ridiculous thing is that films like Raees, Tere Bin Laden and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil were also banned in Pakistan, while in these films only Pakistani artists were in the lead role.

Films were banned in Pakistan due to strange reasons
Ranjhana (2013)- Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor starrer film Ranjhana was banned in Pakistan. The only reason was that the film shows a Muslim girl named Zoya with an affair with a Hindu boy. The film was earlier to be released in Pakistan, although a few days ago the Pakistani Censor Board wrote a letter to the distributor and said that due to the Hindu-Muslim love story, it will send the wrong message to the youth.
The film was released in India on 21 June 2013.
Dangal (2017)- Aamir Khan’s film Dangal was banned in Pakistan because the film featured the Indian National Flag and the national anthem. The Pakistan Censor Board had demanded the removal of the tricolor and the national anthem, although Aamir Khan flatly refused.
Dangal is the highest grossing film in India.
Padman (2018)- Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor starrer film was banned by the Pakistani Censor Board for the use of the word Pad in the title. The censor board argued that it could not show any such subject, story in Pakistan, which the society has not accepted. He refused to buy the film’s rights to the distributors and said that by doing so, he is ruining Islamic Tradition, History and Culture.
The film Padman is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who produces cheap sanitary pads.
Lahore (2010)- The film on kickboxing was banned just because it showed the Indian player defeating the Pakistani player. The Pakistani censor board argued that Pakistanis were shown in a negative role in the film.
The 2010 film Lahore won 2 National Awards.
Fairy (2018) – Anushka Sharma starrer super natural horror film Pari is also banned in Pakistan. The censor board said that the film promotes black magic, which is against Islamic Values. This can lead to Islamic Sentimulation Hart. Whereas in 2013, a film named Siah was released in Pakistan, which shown the concept of magic, sorcery and ghosts.
The film was released in India on 2 March 2018.
Race 3 (2018)- Salman Khan’s film Race 3 was to be released on the occasion of Eid in the year 2018. However, it was banned only in Pakistan, so that Pakistani films do not flop on the occasion of Eid. The censor board feared that Pakistani films would flop in front of Salman’s film.
Race 3 had many actors like Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol.
Tubelight (2017)- Salman’s Tubelight was also not released in Pakistan, so that Pakistani films released with it do not flop.
The film Tubelight had a box office collection of Rs 211 crore.
Dhishoom (2017)- John Abraham and Varun Dhawan starrer shown kidnapping of Indian cricketer just before the India-Pakistan cricket match. The Pakistani Censor Board banned it against Pakistanis.
In the film, Saqib Salim played the role of Indian cricketer Viraj.
Bollywood films of Pakistani actors were also banned in Pakistan
Tere Bin Laden (2010)- Pakistani actor and singer Ali Zafar starrer Bollywood film Tere Bin Laden was banned in Pakistan. Actually, the Pakistani Censor Board had objections to the title of the film’s title Tere Bin Laden. He said that it is very sensitive to use the name of Islamic Extremeist Osama bin Laden. The confusion can spread among the people that the film is made on Laden.
After a long controversy, the title of the film was released in Pakistan.
Raees (2017)- Pakistani actress Mahira Khan made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s film Raees. However, the film was banned in Pakistan. The censor board believed that the film has objectionable content and at the same time many Muslims are shown criminal, terrorist and wanted in the film. The film was also in controversy in India after Uri attack.
In the film, Shah Rukh Khan played the role of liquor smuggler Raees Alam.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2015)- Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan starrer film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was banned in Pakistan due to the ongoing border conflict between Indo-Pak. At this time, due to the casting of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, there was a demand to ban this film in India.
There was a demand for the film being banned in India when Fawad Khan was casting.
Films banned for showing the image of Pakistanis wrong-
Phantom (2015)- Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer The film was made on a 26/11 terror attack, which was based on Hussain Zaidi’s book Mumbai Avenger. Jamaat-ud-Dawa, an organization of Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 terror attack, demanded a ban on it. As a result, the Lahore High Court banned the film. Justice Shahid Bilal of Lahore High Court ordered the government to stop the CD of this film as well.
Baby (2015)- The film was banned in Pakistan for showing Villain Muslim in the film.
Part Milkha Bhaag (2013)- The biopic on Indian athlete Milkha Singh was also banned in Pakistan. The censor board believed that Pakistani Sports Athority was shown to be biased in the film, which could tarnish the image of Pakistan.
The film Bhag Milkha Bhaag won 2 National Awards.
Agent Vinod (2012)- Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer spy film agent Vinod was banned in Pakistan just a day before its release. The censor board argued that the film had an incorrectly introduced to the Pakistani Intelligence Agency ISI.
Saif Ali Khan said on this, in the film we have shown that Pakistan has some negative elements towards India, but the censor board has objections to this. We have shown the most wanted criminals, who are in the shelter of Pakistan and this is a fact.
Ek Tha Tiger (2012)- It was banned in Pakistan when the image of Pakistanis in the film was shown negative.
Bangdays (2015) – Ritesh Deshmukh and Pulkit Emperor starrer The film was the story of two suicide bombers. However, the film was banned from release in Pakistan on showing suicide bomber.
Neerja (2016)- Neerja, who showed the story of the Indian flight in Karachi, was banned in Pakistan. However, the Pakistani censor board later argued that the film was not banned. This film never reached Pakistan for screening.
In the film, Sonam Kapoor played the role of Neerja Bhanot, who was awarded Ashok Chakra.
Naam Shabana (2017)- Taapsee Pannu starrer film Naam Shabana was released against Pakistan and some scenes of Terrorist were released. However, for fear of tarnishing the image, it was banned by the Pakistani Censor Board a day later.
Tiger Zinda Hai (2017)- Salman Khan’s film Tiger Zinda Hai was banned when the image of the Pakistani agency and the law was incorrectly shown.
Raji (2018)- Alia Bhatt starrer spy film Raazi was banned in Pakistan because it was shown spying the intelligence agent to Pakistan.
Mulk (2018)- Mulk, a film showing the story of a family that faced the allegation of treason for having a relationship with Pakistan, was banned in Pakistan. Not only the film, the censor board had completely banned the trailer of the film.
Gold (2018)- The film featured some scenes of the 1947 India-Pakistan partition, which was stopped from release in Pakistan.
Iyari (2018)- Siddharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh starrer film Aiyari was banned in Pakistan for showing the image of Pakistanis wrong.
Atomic (2018)– The film was banned in Pakistan after a reference to Pakistan’s nuclear test was given in a part of the film made on the successful nuclear test held in Pokaran.
These Indian films are also banned in Pakistan
Jolly LLB 2- The film was banned in Pakistan when the issue of terrorism was shown in Jammu and Kashmir.
Veere Di Wedding (2018)- Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar starrer film Veere Di Wedding was banned in Pakistan due to the indecent language used by women in the film.
Ambarsaria (2016)- The film was not allowed to release in Pakistan after mentioning the Indian Intelligence Agency RAW in the film.
Udta Punjab (2015)- It was banned in Pakistan when the abuse was used in the film.
Calendar Girl (2015)- It was not allowed to be released in Pakistan due to an objectionable dialogue of the film.
Moreover (2015)- It was stopped from release in Pakistan due to the ongoing border conflict between India-Pakistan.
Hyder (2014)- The story of Kashmir’s extremism was shown in Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Haider. Being a sensitive issue, the censor board refused to give it a certificate.
Player 786 (2012)- Akshay Kumar’s film Khiladi 786 was being banned in Pakistan only due to the title. However, 786 was later removed from the title of the film. After which the film was released in Pakistan with Khiladi Title.
Despite the ban, the craze of Indian films in Pakistan, Pathan was released illegally
Since 2019, there is a ban on release of all Indian films in Pakistan. Despite this, the craze of Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathan last year was such that it was released in a private theater in Karachi, Pakistan. As soon as the information was received, the Pakistani sensor board stopped the screening taking strict action.
Pakistani artists banned in India
After the Uri attack in 2016, all Pakistani artists were banned for working in India. This was the reason that artists like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan had to leave many films in India. In 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed the petition to ban Pakistani artists, saying that artists cannot be punished due to political tension.
This was the reason that Pakistani artists were again given work in Hindi cinema. Hania Aamir got work in the film Sardar 3 with Diljit Dosanjh, while Fawad Khan was about to make a Bollywood comeback with the film Abir Gulal. However, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Pakistani artists have been banned once again.
The FWICE (Film Federation of Western Cine Employees) has recently written a letter to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that if any Indian will work with Pakistani artists, it will have a case of treason. Also, the person working with Pakistani artists will be banned from the Indian industry.
Obviously, Fawad Khan’s film Abir Gulal will no longer be released in India amid controversies. Hania Aamir is also being replaced by the film Sardar 3.
