‘It is not my aim to create a ruckus, it is my endeavor that this appearance should change.’
These lines of Dushyant Kumar connect the career of actress Rajshree Deshpande and two different ends of life. Rajshree, who created a ruckus with her bold choice in films, is changing people’s lives with her social work in real life. But before reaching this point, he himself has faced many difficulties.
Saw child in childhood, worked in the orchestra for money. On the strength of his stubbornness and hard work, he opened his own ad agency and earned a lot of money. When the heart was filled from there too, he left everything and turned back to art and came to Mumbai and struggled again.
Today the story of Rajshree Deshpande in success story…

Rajshree made her debut on the big screen with Aamir Khan’s film ‘Talaash’. She has also appeared in Salman’s film ‘Kick’.
Five hundred were available to dance in orchestra
I belong to a farmer family. My childhood is spent in Aurangabad. I studied at Marathi Medium School. I miss that time even today when summer holidays were spent in the mango orchard without slippers. I was the most entertaining girl in my house. Whenever a guest comes, the housemates would show me to show the dance. Show someone by mimicry. I think this was the phase when the artist inside me started getting ready without leaving me.
Overall, my childhood was fun. Most of my time spent in sports or drama. I was less interested in studies. I was a judo player and played it till the state and national level.
From school days, I started participating in the drama. When he was interested in dance, he also became part of an orchestral. I would have got five hundred rupees to dance. Which was very much for me according to that time. We would go from village to village and perform Lavani. Reaction of people, their applause would take me to another world, in my dream world.
Saw the crisis of money in childhood
There was a time in our life when many challenges were seen. For a farmer, his land is everything. Our land came into the industrial zone. When the land went away, the mother took the house. Papa got a job after many difficulties. Then the condition of the house improved a bit.
In this era, my childhood was spent when it seemed that money is everything. Happiness could only be found with money. In such a situation, I got away from art. Life was not going on with drama and dance. It was believed that only studies can save you. I left Aurangabad and reached Pune. He studied law from Symbiosis College there.

Tuition and dance expenses
He came to Pune and felt a freedom. However, my family had no money to teach me. I remember, my mother had said at that time that you have come to fight, but we will not be able to bear your expenses. How will you manage?
The hostel in which I lived, started teaching tuition to two children nearby, teaching dance and taking care of them. This would give me some money. In this way, arrangements were made to bear your expenses with studies.
While doing such small work, I got the job of advertising field client service. I did not even know anything about it. Just saw on the poster that a linen car would be found with the job. But here too I learned work soon and then I started falling in love with advertising.
Made his own ed agency, then left for acting
When I saw the crisis of money in the house, my focus was on good earnings. I was riding a passion to earn money. I took a big decision, opened my own ad agency. Good money also started earning but within 6-7 years I realized that I was getting hollow inside. Dance, drama have become the farthest. The artist inside me started cursing me. Then I decided to leave the agency one day.
Parents used to stamp in the cinema hall to earn
There was no culture to read books, watch cinema or drama in my house. My parents also started working from childhood. Both of them studied very little and did not even see cinema. However, my parents used to stamp on tickets in the theater for extra income.
My parents used to finish their work of both the day and go to theater for this work in the evening. By putting the stamp, both of them used to earn ten rupees. Cinema was fond of rich for him. Their concern was to bear the expenses of three daughters and get married.

In such a situation, when I became a part of Naseeruddin Sir’s theater, Papa came to see the play one day. Papa did not know him when I introduced him to Nasir Sir. Papa felt that there was a big man but who did not know this. My father had also asked Naseer sir what do you do? After a long time, I showed Papa his films. Then he came to know that my daughter knows the elders.
Initially failing all auditions
When I left Pune and came to Mumbai, he had to struggle a lot. I was always hungry for work and still is today. I came here and joined the theater. Started telling people, I am also an artist. A lot of auditions became part of the audition. Almost all the auditions of the beginning failed. Only some small roles were found in big films.
However, I believe that audition is a very important thing. The audition should not be seen in negative form. You have to mold a character from your imagination within 10 minutes. This is a kind of acting exercise. My first audition for the 2015 ‘Angry Indian Gods’, which I cracked. After this film, things started changing for me.
Threatened to kill life for the film ‘S Durga’
My Malayalam film ‘S Durga’ came in the year 2017. There was a lot of controversy about the film even before its release. The controversy increased so much that the film had to be changed from Sexy Durga to ‘S Durga’. People without watching the film, only decided by name that the film is bad. It was initially banned. The reason for the film’s name started to kill me and threatened to kill and acid attack.
A lot was written and said about me. I was said to be a Hindu and insulted the goddess. People did not leave my family members, they were also harassed. This was a scary atmosphere for all of us. People also raised controversy during the ‘Angry Indian Gods’.
Porn star called ‘Sacred Games’ scene
I worked in the Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’ in the year 2018. The series received a lot of praise but I was called a porn star for my intemsacy scene. A clip was put on the porn website by tampering with the series scene. My photo was made viral by morphing.
No one was questioning Nawazuddin Siddiqui or director Anurag Kashyap. Everyone was blaming me. But I did not allow it to affect myself. The disputes kept going, and I kept quietly in my work.

Many offers left for social work
After ‘Sacred Games’, I was constantly getting work offers. But I left all and went to Aurangabad. I am doing volunteers on social issues with a lot of young age. Sometimes I used to go to clean the beach and sometimes I used to spend time with the children of Shelter Home.
2015 Nepal Bhunkap had a great impact on me. I worked there with an international NGO there. Returning from Nepal, I turned around in drought -prone areas of Marathwada. I started thinking on the issue of water. I also did 3-4 months research before starting work on water. By spending 6 months, farmers collected more donations. Did not sit silent by doing so and worked on toilets, health care.
If the government did not build a school, then he took up the responsibility
I was working on sanitation, health care and water problems in Pandhari Pimple village of Aurangabad, then my attention went to the village school. The condition of the school in that village was very bad. In the year 2017, I requested the government to work on school. At that time, he did not have a fund, so he asked for a year. A year later, when I went to her, I got the answer that I would have to stop for another year. In such a situation, I told him that you allow me, I will make school. This was a decision taken in excitement. I could not understand how I would work on it. In such a situation, the NGO ‘Nabhangan’ came into existence.
I registered this NGO. More than four hundred people gave donation for school through my NGO. It took me two years to build a school. Today it has been five years since that school was built. The number of children is increasing. In addition to all the subjects in that school, we also teach children painting, dance, drama, singing, playing instrument and judo.

Working with Madhuri is like a dream come true
I used to dance to Madhuri Dixit’s songs in my childhood. He has had a lot of influence on me. In 2022, I got a chance to work with him in the ‘Fame Game’ series. When I met him on the set for the first time, I took 15 minutes to digest this thing. Then gradually our conversation started in Marathi. After that she became like an elder sister for me. Even after being such a big superstar, he is quite a humble. Working with them was like a dream coming true.
Abovered from many projects overnight
Many times it happened to me that I signed the project and the project was closed. Many times it happened that after taking the date, I was told that a big star in the project has replaced you. Many times he has had to fight for money too. My experience is that the film industry is not easy. There are very high uncertainty here. It does not happen here that if you get a project, you are set.
The ‘Trial by Fire’ series has been very important for my career. For the role of this series, I made many changes Mentally and Physically. I also got its result.
For this series, I received the title of Best Actress at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2023. This year I also received the Filmfare OTT Award. My ambition is just a good job. After all the struggle, I have also played the lead role, I consider it as the achievement of my journey. Soon my new work will be seen on Amazon Prime.
