Cyclone ‘Montha’ affects Punjab, temperature drops….

The impact of Chakwat Montha is also being felt in Punjab. Although it is unlikely to bring rain, the downwind winds have provided relief from pollution and temperatures have dropped in some districts. However, the air conditions will change today, which will increase the temperature and pollution.

According to the Meteorological Department, winds are blowing from north to northeast. In central Punjab, these winds are moving northwards. This has brought relief from pollution in Bathinda and Amritsar. The AQI has dipped below 100 here, but the situation has reached alarming levels in central Punjab.

The situation is getting worse in Jalandhar, Khanna and Ludhiana. Pollution has increased rapidly due to winds. It is estimated that today half of Punjab will have northerly winds and the other half will be south-westerly. This is likely to further worsen the pollution situation.

The highest temperature of 32.2 degrees was recorded in Faridkot. But today the situation is expected to change. Temperatures may rise by 1 degree in most cities.
