Punjab News: An amount of Rs. 4.52 crore has been provided to 887 eligible beneficiaries in District Sri Muktsar Sahib under the Ashirwad Scheme run by the Punjab Government.
Dr. Baljit Kaur, Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Department, Punjab, informed that financial assistance of Rs. 51000/- is given by the government at the time of marriage for girls belonging to scheduled castes, backward classes and economically weaker sections.
He said that a total of 671 SCs in the district from May 2022 to November 2022. Beneficiaries and B.C. Beneficiaries A total of 216 beneficiaries from April 2022 to December 2022 have been paid directly into their personal bank accounts through DBT mode.
According to the District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Jagmohan Singh Mann, the Punjab government has started an online portal (Ashirwad Portal) to apply under the said scheme for the convenience and transparency of the common people, under which any applicant can be registered in the office. There will be no need to go and submit the file, rather you can submit your file online at home. With this initiative, common people will be freed from leaving their work and going round the offices.
