When the war for supremacy broke out in the sky and China and Pakistan started making false claims of their power. At that time, India makes such a move which changes the entire game. If this deal comes into reality then the strength of the Indian Air Force will increase a hundred times. We are talking about Sukhoi SU 57 i.e. Russia’s Super Hunter Jet. It is reported that the deal for 84 SU 57 between India and Russia has almost reached the final stage. This means that now the time is near when new warriors of the sky will join India’s squadron. But this is not just a deal but a new strategy of India and a masterstroke that will create silence in the war rooms of both China and Pakistan. In the year 2018, India had withdrawn from this project i.e. FGFA i.e. Fifth Generation Aircraft. But then it had some technical limitations. There were engine, stealth and maintenance issues.

In the last seven years, Russia has upgraded its Hunter to such an extent that it is counted among the deadliest fighters in the world. NATO names the Su-57 Palon. Now as per its name it has really become the biggest fear of the enemies. Russia has offered 84 Su-57 stealth fighter jets to India and according to sources, negotiations on this deal have almost reached the final stage. The first two squadrons of these aircraft will be delivered to India directly from Russia, while the remaining three to five squadrons will be manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Speaking of the F-35, America’s own stealth fighter aircraft has also not been completely problem-free. Lockheed Martin’s Lightning II has faced cost overruns, technical problems, and operational limitations. The program’s development costs escalated to become one of the most expensive military projects in history. Early F-35 aircraft required extensive improvements, the jet had oxygen system problems, and its gun accuracy problems took years to resolve. The issue is not whether the Su-57 is equivalent to the F-35 in capability, most analysts do not agree, but rather that developing an advanced stealth fighter is extremely difficult for everyone, including the United States.

For India, the choice is not simply between a flawed Russian alternative and an ideal American alternative. There are conditions attached to the F-35, including restrictions on modifications and technology transfer, which India generally opposes. The Su-57, despite its limitations, offers greater flexibility for customization and local manufacturing. Neither option is ideal, which is why India is continuing to develop AMCA despite slow progress on the programme.
