DTF president Vikram Dev said that the government is doing so to hide the shortage of teachers in Oe schools. “An order to stop the admission of class VI had also come in 2023, but due to protest, the government had to withdraw the decision. The government should provide equal studies in all schools, not discriminate in some schools.”
Two types of students, different facilities in SOE schools
Two types of students study in Punjab’s School of Eminence –
- Those who pass the entrance test and take admission. They get special facilities, such as free uniform, better education facilities, modern sports grounds and smart classrooms.
- Those who take admission without a test. These additional facilities are not provided to them.
New Order of Education Department-Gair- Soe students admission to be reduced
On March 24, the Director of School Education (Secondary) ordered the District Education Officers (DEO) to reduce the number of students taking Test admission and ask them to take admission in other government schools. This decision has been taken on the instructions of Education Minister Harjot Bains.
Cleanliness of Education Minister – SoE is merit based model
Education Minister Harjot Bains said that SoE has been designed for the same students who pass the entrance test. “As the number of students taking admission through the test is increasing, we are adding new classes. Also, the facilities of other government schools are also improving.”
While the Teacher Union alleges that a decision is being taken to hide the shortage of teachers in SOE and these students are being adopted as well as discrimination.
