Controversy erupted at Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s first stadium concert in Sydney, Australia when a Sikh fan was barred from entering with the religious symbol Kirpan.
About 25,000 spectators attended the show at Parramatta Stadium in western Sydney. The house was full, a large number of whom belonged to the Punjabi and Sikh communities. But as per religious tradition, spectators wearing kirpans were not allowed to enter the stadium. This matter was condemned by Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj.
According to information, the audience who came to Diljit’s show were thrown out when they objected to the removal of the Kirpan. As a result the Sikh community, who had come to the concert hoping to see Diljit, returned disappointed.
In this case, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said, “This is not just about Australia, it is about India. In Rajasthan, our daughter was not allowed to take the exam because of the crimes. When we joined the Indian government in 1947, it is their duty to protect our rights.”
Jathedar said that “Now when we are celebrating the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadurji, we should remember that he sacrificed his life to save the identity of Hindus. Guru’s martyrdom was for human rights and freedom.”

Jathedar Sahib said that human rights and religious freedom should be upheld throughout the world. These kakars were given by the Gurus and are a symbol of the Guru. Sikhs protect them. So such unfortunate incidents should not happen anywhere. The Government of India should also talk to the local administration and put a stop to these incidents.
