Sharing some excerpts from his letter to the Deputy Chairman, Kharge wrote, “Special intensive review of voter lists by the Election Commission is being done in Bihar first and then it will be done in West Bengal, Assam and other states. While urging the Deputy Chairman to maintain the previous decisions of the Chairman of the Upper House, Kharge wrote that on July 21, 2023, the then Chairman of the Rajya Sabha gave a decision that ‘This House is entitled to discuss everything in the world with a ban’. Calling to continue that tradition, Kharge further said in his letter, “You will undoubtedly understand that the Chairman is a sustainable institution. You have cited the decisions given by the Chairman in the last several years in support of some of your decisions. It is clear from the decision of the Chairman that the Rajya Sabha is entitled to discuss the issue of amendment of the voter list, which is of fundamental importance in our democracy.”
