CM Rekha Gupta’s claim, no waterlogging occurred in Delhi even after heavy rains

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta claimed on Thursday that there was no waterlogging in the national capital after heavy rains in Delhi-NCR from Wednesday night. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that we are solving the pending cases of Delhi one by one. Even after such heavy rains, there was no waterlogging in Delhi. He said that there was no waterlogging on Minto Bridge, which made media headlines in every monsoon.

The Chief Minister told reporters that it was a trend to publish a picture of Minto Bridge filled with water in newspapers. But this time it did not happen. He further said that by the next monsoon, the situation in Delhi will be even better. Meanwhile, Delhi has been raining continuously since Wednesday, causing waterlogging in many areas including Bindapur in Uttam Nagar, where roads are submerged in water. After heavy rains, traffic in many parts of the national capital also came to a standstill.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj shared photos of the roads with waterlogging and accused the BJP of repeatedly failing to deal with the floods despite the four ‘engines’. Sharing pictures of waterlogging in Lutyens Delhi, Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “This is Lutyens Delhi. In just one hour of rain, this is the condition of the road near the official residence of Public Works Department, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Pravesh Verma.”

Condemning the unsuccessful promises of BJP, Bhardwaj said that BJP Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Public Works Minister Pravesh Verma and other ministers and leaders had made big claims that Delhi would not be submerged this year. He had said that all necessary preparations have been made to stop waterlogging. If everything was fine, then why did Delhi flood in just one hour of rain?
