Bureau Report: The Punjab government on Thursday started a campaign to vacate the government land of the state. After which Punjab Vigilance has arrested Naib Tehsildar Balwinder Singh and retired Patwari Jagjit Singh Jagga from Sardulgarh of Mansa. The vigilance officer said that Naib Tehsildar Balwinder Singh and Patwari Jagjit Singh tampered with the records of the department and made some people owners of 28 acres of land in village Seman Tehsil Nathana Bathinda. The investigation has revealed that Patwari Jagjit Singh Jagga turned people from cultivators into owners in Jamabandi 2005-06.

Loan obtained from banks

After becoming the owner, private people obtained loans of lakhs of rupees from banks including land. After receiving information about this, vigilance started action. Vigilance found evidence against Naib Tehsildar Balwinder Singh during the investigation. After this, the accused was named in the case and arrested. Vigilance has nominated people who have become illegal owners in Shamalat land. A case is being registered against the accused in the Vigilance Bureau Police Station of Bathinda under the sections of the IPC under the Corruption Act.
