A fire broke out on Thursday evening at a shop at the busy Churchgate railway station in South Mumbai, causing panic among the passengers. An official said that no one was injured in the incident as per the information given by Western Railway at around 5:25 pm.
The municipal corporation said that several teams and fire fighting equipment were sent to the spot. Police and local municipal employees were also involved in the fire extinguishing campaign. He said that the fire in the shop was extinguished in a few minutes.
He informed that efforts are being made to find out the cause of the fire and the loss. However, the daily travelers were worried for some time, as the entire complex of the busy suburban terminal station was filled with smoke due to the fire.
