Beijing : The Foreign Ministry has informed on Tuesday that China’s Foreign Minister Qin Gang will visit India this week and he will participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of the G-20 group on 2 March. This will be the first visit by a Chinese foreign minister to India after the visit of predecessor Wang Yi to New Delhi in 2019 to attend the Special Representatives’ talks on the subject of boundary mechanisms. Wang and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were special representatives in this dialogue.
Will attend the G-20 meeting in New Delhi
According to the announcement made by China’s Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Qin Gang will attend the G-20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi on March 2 at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Minister S Jaishankar. India took over the presidency of the G-20 on December 1 last year.
G-20’s 82 percent stake in global GDP
G-20 member states represent about 85 percent of global GDP, more than 75 percent of global trade, and nearly two-thirds of the world’s population. G-20 member countries include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK and US. The European Union is also a part of it.
Rift in India-China relations since May 2020
