According to China’s official media, at least 10 people died and 33 others went missing due to a sudden storm in Yuzhong County in North-Western Gansu province of China. According to government broadcaster CCTV, the incident took place at a time when heavy rains from Thursday flooded the hilly areas near Lanzhou city and at least one landslide. The broadcast further stated that due to the frequent incidence of extremely bad weather, Xi ordered all areas to be completely free from satisfaction and strengthening efforts to identify risks. In the footage shared by Chinese fire fighting officers on Weibo, the rescue teams are seen guiding people with water flowing in a village. In the pictures posted by Gansu government, roads were seen covered with silt and large stones. Natural disasters are common in China, especially in summer when some areas receive heavy rains, while some areas have scorching heat.
