Chief Minister Sharma’s weakness not to give evidence in support of allegations of relations with Pakistan: Gogoi

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday claimed that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishw Sharma failed to present evidence in support of these allegations. It is his ‘weakness’ that he (Gogoi) “is a relationship with Pakistan.

Gogoi avoided issuing any kind of clarification on the alleged visits to the neighboring country and said that people should be patient, as ‘knockout punch’ is finally given in the match against boxing.

Gogoi told reporters in his Lok Sabha constituency Jorhat’s Majuli area, “This (in politics) is not a new thing when the BJP’s IT cell has made baseless allegations against me, but when the Chief Minister of a state says something, we wait to give evidence to it. There should be some difference between the posts and the Chief Minister’s comments.”

The Chief Minister and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been accusing Gogoi of the Congress Deputy Leader Gogoi in the Lok Sabha that he and his British wife Elizabeth Kalbourne have relations with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

On Saturday, Gogoi said on the allegations against him, “We are asking for evidence from the very first day. It is his weakness not to give evidence.” The Congress leader also claimed that the delay in giving evidence to support the allegations will “end the trust of the people.”

Sharma recently said that by September 10, all the evidence will be presented to the public, while answering the question asked, the Congress leader said, “Is this a film, whose release date is already decided? Are we watching ‘Singham 1’ or ‘Singham 2’?”

When asked about the allegations leveled against him, Gogoi avoided giving a direct answer, saying, “Knockout punch (in boxing match) is given in the end. Everyone has to be patient.”

The Chief Minister also alleged that Gogoi had visited the neighboring country at the invitation of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, took training there and worked together to establish an intelligence agency. Gogoi, while responding to Sharma’s comment on his visit to Pakistan, said that many senior BJP leaders have also visited the neighboring country earlier.
