Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the flood affected areas of Anantnag district on Saturday to assess the situation after heavy rains. The officers provided this information. He was accompanied by cabinet colleagues, advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, several MLAs, police and civil administration officials. Among them was Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag Syed Farukhuddin.
Officials said that the Chief Minister took direct review of the damage done to homes and public infrastructure and was also informed about the measures to be taken after the flood.
During a conversation with the affected families, Abdullah assured the residents that all necessary steps would be taken to provide relief and assistance to the affected people. He directed the district administration to prioritize rehabilitation and restoration efforts and asked to ensure that the necessary supply should reach the affected areas soon.
Officials said that in addition, Abdullah held a meeting with senior officials of the district in the post bungalow to review the situation after the flood and assess its overall impact.
