Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal on Thursday said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured him that the company’s proposed university will not be set up anywhere other than Odisha.
Aggarwal made the comments after discussing with Majhi the group’s additional Rs 1 lakh crore investment in Odisha. “The Vedanta University project was also discussed in the meeting and the Chief Minister told me that if a world-class university is to be established, it should be only in Odisha,” he told reporters. I thanked him for this.
The future of the project remains uncertain after the Supreme Court upheld the Odisha High Court order on land acquisition issues in April 2023.
