Congress leader P Chidambaram launched a new attack on Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. He resorted to rare public criticism of three former election monitorers, who had misunderstood the way Rahul Gandhi’s vote theft allegations were wrong. Chidambaram said that the Election Commission’s job is to investigate serious complaints, not to challenge the Leader of the Opposition by giving an affidavit or an ultimatum to apologize. Chidambaram cited strict criticism by three former Election Commissioners in a post on X. According to him, the former election officials strongly criticized Kumar’s stand and emphasized that if a citizen or stakeholder had made any concrete complaint, it is the duty of the Election Commission to investigate the complainant instead of challenging him.
