Chhattisgarh: More than 12 shops burnt due to fire in Bilaspur market, no casualties

More than 12 shops were gutted due to fire in a market in Bilaspur city in Chhattisgarh late on Tuesday night. Police officials gave this information on Wednesday.

Vivek Pandey, in -charge of the city’s ‘City Kotwali’ police station, said that shops in Shanichari market of the area caught fire at around 3 pm. He said that no casualties have been reported in this incident.

Pandey said that after receiving information about the fire, fire engines were sent to the spot. The official said that 12 to 15 business establishments including a warehouse, clothing shop, some food shops were burnt before the fire was controlled.

The official said that the correct assessment of the damage caused by the fire has not been done yet. Pandey said that prima facie it seems that the fire started due to ‘short circuit’ but only after investigation, accurate information in this regard will be available.
