A gurudwara of the United Kingdom (UK) has been allowed to install a Khalistan board. The monitoring organization of the Charity region of the UK has ruled that the investigation of the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at Slow found that Khalistan Board does not violate political guidelines for charity institutions operated in the country. The matter arose in 2019 when an Indian journalist saw a Khalistan Board in the place of worship. Controversy over ‘Khalistan Board’ in a Gurdwara in Britain
In 2019, an Indian journalist who visited the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha located at Slow, Berkshire County, South-Eastern England, received a large Khalistan board inside the campus. He lodged a complaint with the Charity Commission, which regulates charity institutions in Britain. Gurudwaras in Britain are registered as charity as they are for public interest. The guidelines of the British Charity Commission do not allow any political party or state to support. The complex and sensitive case of displaying Khalistan banners or plates in the gurudwara was raised to review before the independent monitoring institution. Last December, the commission directed the trustees of the gurudwara to remove plates by March 10, 2025. However, according to the Times of India (TOI) report, he was never removed.

British commission allows Khalistan board to be installed
Five years after the issue is raised, the UK Commission has decided that boards may remain. The Commission said that the term Khalistan has an important religious meaning, while for some people it is a political term. The committee concluded that this charity was working in accordance with its religious objectives, as Khalistan Board did not promote the material demanding any political state. A spokesperson of the Charity Commission said that many administrative concerns were raised about us about the Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Slow, after which we opened a regulatory compliance case to further evaluate them and interact with the trustees.
