In the murder case of an MBA student in Chandigarh 15 years ago after rape, the Magistrate Court has sentenced serial killer Monu to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the accused. On the other hand, the parents of the student said that such a criminal should have been sentenced to death. Inside the court room, the girl’s parents are talking with the judge and the door is closed. He told the judge that the accused should have been given death sentence and not life imprisonment, then we would get justice.
The father of the deceased student said that the accused should have been sentenced not to life imprisonment but to death, about which he will think whether to appeal further or not. He further said that it is not a human but an animal, it has no heart inside it. Apart from this, he said that scientist Sunita Verma has helped a lot in this case. Initially, when the woman was raped and killed in Sector-56, during that time, they had collected a lot of evidence from there.
Let us tell you that the case dates back to 2010 when the accused could not be traced till 12 years after the murder of the student. The police had also filed a report of the untraceable case and the family had also given up hope of justice. If in the investigation of the murder of a woman in Chandigarh in the year 2022, the police got the first clue of the student’s case.
In more than 100 DNA tests conducted by the police and interrogation of 800 people, the name of the accused Monu Kumar resident of Dadumajra Shahpur Colony Chandigarh came out. But the problem was that he had left Chandigarh and gone to Bihar and neither he used a mobile phone nor did he have an Aadhaar card nor did he have a bank account. In such a case the police could not trace him despite many attempts. But when he returned to Chandigarh in the year 2024, the police arrested him on the basis of a tip-off. In the interrogation, he confessed to killing both the women.
