Central employees can get a big gift before Diwali. An increase of 3 per cent in dearness allowance may be announced in today’s Union Cabinet meeting. However, the Center has so far increased the DA rate only once. Therefore, central government employees are expecting an increase in the DA rate under the 7th Pay Commission.
Central Government employees currently receive 28 per cent of their basic pay as DA under the 7th Pay Commission. Many reports suggest that the DA rate could rise by 3%. A recent Money Control report said that the DA rate could be increased by a percentage before Diwali.
