Union Housing and Urban Case and Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Friday that the Center will consider the Bangalore Metro Phase-two and three (A) proposals after getting approval from the Karnataka government.
Khattar reviewed the progress of various urban initiatives in Bengaluru and urged the state government to prioritize waste management inherited and request the State Government to take advantage of the Special Assistance Scheme (SSASCI) 2025-26 for the sake of capital investment for urban reforms.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of various missions, he said that the revised cost of the Bengaluru Metro (Charan-two) project will be considered after the proposal is approved by the State Cabinet.
According to an official statement, currently about 75 km of metro network in Bengaluru is operational and about 145 km of network is under construction. Recently, the central government had approved the 45 km long metro phase-3 network at a cost of Rs 15,600 crore.
According to the statement, the state government has proposed a proposal for about 37 km long Bengaluru Metro Phase-Three (A), which is an estimated cost of around Rs 28,400 crore.
Khattar said that the project will be approved by the central government after getting the response from the Karnataka government. He urged the state government to look into the inherited waste management and promote the reuse of water.
