Amid the situation of India-Pakistan war, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to 13 e-commerce companies such as Amazon-Flipkart for illegal sale of walkie-talk devices on their platforms. CCPA gave this information in the official statement on Friday (May 9).
The CCPA said that 13 notices have been issued to the major digital marketplace against the illegal listing and sales of Wockey-Talky on e-commerce platforms. These platforms are Amazon, Flipkart, Misho, OLX, Trade Inzia, Facebook, Indiamart, Vardanmart, Geomart, Krishnamart, Chimiya, Talk Pro Walky Talky and Mask Man Toy.
This action is a focus on the Walky-Tockey’s cell without proper frequency disclosure, licensing information and equipment type approval (ETA), a violation of the Consumer Protection Act-2019.

CCPA will release guidelines under Consumer Protection Act
Pralhad Joshi said that they violate many legal framework including Consumer Protection Act, Indian Telegraph Act and Wireless Telegraphy Act.
He said that CCPA will issue formal guidelines under Section 18 (2) (L) of Consumer Protection Act-2019. The objective of which is to comply with the digital marketplace and strengthen consumer safety measures.
Pralhad Joshi said that all the applied regulatory standard ie regulatory standards have been directed to maintain consumer rights and prevent illegal trade practice.
