Justice Yashwant Verma was sent from Allahabad to Delhi High Court in October 2021.
Action has started in the case of 15 crore cash from the house of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma. Chief Justice of Delhi High Court DK Upadhyay on Friday submitted the internal inquiry report to CJI Sanjeev Khanna of the Supreme Court.
Now the collegium will take further action on this. On the other hand, Atul Garg, head of Delhi Fire Service, has said that I have not made any such statement that cash has not been found.
The cash was recovered after the fire on Holi at around 11.35 pm on March 14 at the bungalow in Lutyens Delhi, Justice Verma. The fire department personnel of Delhi reached the spot and extinguished the fire. Justice Verma was out of the city during the incident. His family was present at the house.
In the Delhi High Court, the members of the bar raised the issue in front of the High Court Chief Justice Devendra Upadhyay and requested them to take action. The Chief Justice replied that the judges are aware of the issue.
The Supreme Court said in a statement on Friday that the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court has introduced an internal inquiry against Justice Verma. The proposal to transfer them to Allahabad High Court is different. The statement said that misinformation and rumors are being spread regarding the incident at Justice Yashwant Verma’s residence.
Two statements of Chief of Fire Service
Of the 21st March: Delhi Fire Service chief Atul Garg said that the fire was reported at 11:35 pm on March 14. The fire was in the store room, where there was stationery and household items. No cash was found while extinguishing the fire.
Of March 22: Atul Garg, head of Delhi Fire Service, said that I have not made any such statement that cash has not been received.

Supreme Court said- misinterpretation information and rumors of getting cash are being spread
On Friday, the Supreme Court also issued a statement on the matter. In which it was said that misinformation and rumors of cash are being spread. The Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court will submit a primary report to CJI Sanjeev Khanna today. After this, further action will be taken.
During the entire incident, the Supreme Court Collegium transferred Justice Verma back to the Allahabad High Court. However, the Supreme Court in its statement made it clear that the news of the judge getting cash from the bungalow and their transfer has no relation.
How the case came out
On March 14, on the night of Holi, around 11:30 pm … Justice Yashwant Verma of Delhi High Court caught fire in the government bungalow in Delhi. Justice Verma was not at home, so his family informed the fire brigade and the police.
According to media reports, there was a fire in the store room of the bungalow. It was a small fire. Two fire brigade reached the spot and started the work of extinguishing the fire and the police also arrived. Meanwhile, a pile of cash was found in a room.

The Delhi High Court started a primary investigation after the news of the cash getting cash from the High Court judge’s house. After this, the Supreme Court Collegium also held a meeting on the evening of 20 March. Delhi High Court Chief Justice DK Upadhyay started an internal investigation process to gather evidence and information. Its report will be submitted to CJI Sanjeev Khanna.
The collegium will examine this report, after that any action will be taken further. However, the proposal to transfer the Allahabad High Court of Justice Verma was kept separately. According to the Supreme Court, the transfer proposal was investigated by the collegium on 20 March.
After this, letters were sent to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court advisory judges, Justice Verma and the Chief Justice of the concerned High Courts. The court said- The reactions received from these people will be investigated and after that the collegium will pass a resolution.

Indira Jai Singh said- the information should be public
Senior Lawyer Indira Jai Singh has criticized the lack of transparency in the decision of the Supreme Court Collegium. He said- I think it is unfair to comment on the basis of insufficient information. The collegium is requested to make public information related to the incident. Under what circumstances the cash was recovered. Everyone should be aware of this. Till now only speculation is in front of people. A judge under the Prevention of Corruption Act is no different from action.

Case of getting heavy cash on judge bungalow raised in Parliament

Retired Judge Justice SN Dhingra said, ‘There is a long -time corruption in the judiciary. Concrete steps were not taken to eliminate it. The common man suffers pain. If the judge’s house was found, the Supreme Court had to allow an FIR. Further action should be done as it is on the common man. Vikas Singh, former chairman of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said- should resign from Justice Verma. The transfer is not a solution.
