A major statement of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has come out regarding the Akali-BJP alliance. He said that BJP needs Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab. Alliance with Akali Dal is necessary to form the government in Punjab.
There is no way to come to power in 2027 without alliance. He reasoned that there is no BJP cadre in the whole of Punjab. If we fight the Lok Sabha elections together, we can win 7-8 seats. He said that BJP’s base is not in the rural areas of Punjab but Akali Dal’s. Therefore, both of them need each other only then a government can be formed in Punjab. He said that this is my experience. If BJP does not have an alliance with Akali Dal then forget about forming the government.

It should be said that Captain has been following the alliance before. The Akali Dal has been holding talks with the BJP behind the scenes regarding this, but the alliance could not be reached. Let us tell you that in 2020-21, the Akali Dal broke the alliance with the BJP over the agricultural laws, after which both the BJP and the Akali Dal have weakened.
