Indian captain Shubman Gill scored his 10th Test century in the ongoing second Test match against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi today. Since becoming the captain in Test cricket, he has been scoring runs continuously. His latest century proved to be a record breaker as Gill achieved many achievements as a Test captain and also created a new record for India in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC).

The 26-year-old player has now become the player with the most centuries for India in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC). His century against West Indies in Delhi became his 10th century, surpassing the record of nine centuries in the World Test Championship held by Rohit Sharma, who retired earlier this year. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill equaled Virat Kohli’s record for India by scoring most centuries as captain in a year. Now he should score five centuries in 2025, while Kohli has achieved this amazing feat twice in his career. He scored five centuries each as Test captain in 2017 and 2018 and four centuries in 2016 as well. Kohli was in his best batting form from 2016 to 2018.

Talking about Gill, in this matter he left behind Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored four centuries while being the Test captain of India in 1997. Ricky Ponting is at the top in this matter, who scored seven centuries in 2006. Shubman Gill has broken many records with his 10th century in Test cricket. The 26-year-old scored his fifth century as captain in the World Test Championship, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who had scored four centuries while captaining his country in Test cricket. Overall, Joe Root tops the list with eight scores of more than 100 as England captain.
