According to the affiliate website India.com, This is the Pipili seat of Orissa. BJD’s Pradeep Maharthi won the seat and became MLA. But he died suddenly. After which by-elections were to be held there on April 17 this year. Three days earlier, on April 14, Congress candidate Ajit Mangraj had died. Due to this the by-election was canceled.

Following this incident, the Election Commission announced the date for the second by-election on May 13. However, due to the Eid festival, the date of this by-election was later changed to May 16. After that, the by-election was postponed again due to the terror of the second wave of Corona. Now seeing the improvement in the situation in Corona, the Election Commission has announced the election program for the third time in Pipli seat. According to the commission’s notification, by-elections will be held on September 30 and counting of votes will take place on October 3. According to sources, no new nomination will be filed for the by-election to this seat. This is because all the procedures there have already been completed in April. BJD has fielded Rudrapratap Maharthi, son of Pradeep Maharthi. On the other hand, the BJP has fielded Ashrita Patnaik and the Congress has fielded Vishwokshan Harichandan Mohapatra.
