Large action on illegal colonies in Amritsar. Amritsar Development Authority (Puda) has run bulldozers on two illegal colonies. This action taken on the instructions of Puda’s Chief Administrator Nitesh Kumar Jain and Additional Chief Administrator Major Amit Sarin.

Under the leadership of District Municipal Planner Gursevak Singh Aulakh, the team took action on Ramatirtha Road. Notices were issued to the illegal commercial colony in village Goausabad and unauthorized colony in village Wadala Bhittevad. Action was also taken in both colonies.
Under the new amendment 2024 of the PAPRA Act-1995, there is a provision of strict punishment to those who cut the illegal colony. This includes 5 to 10 years of jail and a fine ranging from 25 lakh to 5 crore rupees. The department has so far written a letter to the police to register an FIR against 15 illegal colonizers and builders.
The district city planner has appealed to the people to check the approval of the colony from Puda before purchasing the plot. Also, take necessary permission from the department before making any kind of construction. This will protect their property from damage and there will be no problem in future.
