New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday urged the people to put in their best efforts in the next 25 years to build a nation that clings to the glory of the past and has every golden chapter of modernity. The President said this in his first address while addressing the joint sitting of both the Houses in the historic Central Hall of the Parliament on the first day of the Budget Session today. He said, “We have to make an India which is self-reliant and which is capable of fulfilling its humanitarian obligations.”
He said that the government has termed the last 25 years of completion of 100 years of the country’s independence as “Amrit Kaal”. He said, “We have to build such a nation by 2047, which is also connected to the glory of the past and which has every golden chapter of modernity.” He said that the people of India have witnessed many positive changes for the first time during the nearly nine years of the present government’s rule.
He said that the period of 25 years of Amrit Kaal is the golden period of independence and the time to build a developed India. He said that India used to depend on other people to solve its problems but now it is solving global problems. He said that people were being provided basic amenities which were missing for decades and modern infrastructure was being built across the country which the society had been aspiring for a long time.
He said, “India today has a government that is stable, fearless and decisive, working to fulfill big dreams. It has a government that values probity, solves people’s problems and works for their lasting empowerment.” The President said that the government has fulfilled the aspirations of the deprived sections of the society. Murmu said that the biggest change has happened today that the confidence of every Indian is at its peak and the world’s attitude towards India has changed.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various ministers of his cabinet, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal and leaders of various parties in the Central Hall of Parliament during the President’s address. Leaders and MPs were present. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and some other party leaders could not reach the central hall when the President’s address began due to delay in flights due to inclement weather in Srinagar.
